THE MIDLIFE POWER SHIFT

REINVENTION I POWER I INFLUENCE

This podcast starts with one question: Is this really it?

If you are somewhere in your 40s or 50s, have built a career and a life that looks successful from the outside and yet something feels off, heavy, misaligned, you are not broken. You have simply outgrown the game you were given.

The Midlife Power Shift is where women come to rethink identity, reclaim power and redesign the rules they have been living by.  Each episode is a real conversation sometimes just with me, sometimes with women whose thinking will change how you see your own life.

Reinvention. Power. Influence. Your second chapter starts here.

EPISODE 1

Before you could form an opinion, you were handed a set of rules.

Be agreeable. Be helpful. Don't take up too much space. Put others first. Wait your turn.

In this episode, Andrea Ryan makes the case that the places you're holding yourself back are not character flaws. They're installed behaviours. And she gets specific, walking through six areas of your life where the rules are still running: your relationships, your health, your money, your career, your identity, and your willingness to take up space in the world.

Episode 2

We have been selling women a confidence problem for decades.

Confidence courses. Confidence coaching. The confidence gap. As though if women just believed in themselves a little more, everything else would follow.

Andrea Ryan wants to offer a different frame: most women don't have a confidence problem. They've been operating in systems that punish confidence in women while rewarding it in men. And after years of that — it can look, from the outside and from the inside, like a confidence problem. But that's not the same thing.

In this episode, Andrea draws on her own story, from a naturally confident child to a woman who learned exactly which version of her confidence was acceptable to explore the difference between confidence and power. And why one of them has always been yours.

Episode 3

When did you last feel genuinely energised? Not caffeinated. Not powered through. Not finally sitting down at 10pm when everything is done.

Actually energised.

For a lot of women, that question produces a long pause and then something like: I can't remember.

In this episode, Andrea Ryan draws on new 2026 research showing that 96% of Australian women rate themselves as highly competent, yet only 14% received a promotion last year, work-life balance satisfaction is declining, and over a third of women have opted out of leadership ambition entirely. Not because they lack drive. Because they've worked out the ROI of their energy.

Your exhaustion makes complete sense. And it is not a personal failing.

The three-question exercise from this episode:

What is draining you most reliably right now?

What would change if you addressed it, properly, not around the edges?

What is the smallest possible first step?
